Kansas City, Mo. – Central Missouri placed three runners in the top ten and held off Missouri Southern by just one point to win the MIAA Men’s Cross Country Championship. Southwest Baptist finished third and Nebraska-Kearney and Northwest Missouri rounded out the top five edging Pittsburg State by just a point in a close race.
Individually Adam Volkert won the title on his home course finishing with only one shoe, but in a time of 24:35.30 to win by almost a full ten seconds. Laban Sialo of Central Missouri came in second finishing in 24:44.59 ahead of teammate Tyler Stuber who set a 24:48.53 pace. Kevin Carder of Nebraska-Kearney finished fourth with a 24:53.53 time and Eric Schott of Missouri Southern used a 24:55.58 pace to round out the top five.
Nolan Zimmer of Northwest Missouri finished the race in 25:01.92 to come in just ahead of MSSU’s Jacob Benton who set a 25:02.92 pace. UCM’s Adam Tredway finished the race in 25:07.06 to place eighth on the day. MSSU’s Andrew Webster placed ninth with a 25:10.54 and Cory Keehn of Fort Hays State used a 25:12.33 to round out the top ten. The top ten finishers in the race earn All-MIAA status for the 2013 season.
