Hall of Fame
Jim Frazier was the third head coach in MSSU Football History, coaching from 1971-1985. He won the school’s only National Championship in football in 1972 when the Lions won the NAIA National Title. He is the school’s all-time winningest football coach. Frazier was also the Athletic Director at MSSU where he spearheaded the school’s transition to Division II and membership in the MIAA in 1989. Under Frazier, the school won 23 conference championships. The school also won its only Division II National Championship under Frazier’s tenure when the 1992 Softball Team won the Division II National Title. Frazier helped usher in various facilities that are still in use on the campus of MSSU, including Young Gymnasium, Fred G. Hughes Stadium and the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center, which still serves as one of just three indoor track facilities in the MIAA.
