Danny Powers - Baseball Student-Athlete
Central Missouri, 2003-05
Powers was the 2005 National, Regional and MIAA Pitcher of the Year. He was a first team All-MIAA, All-American and the 2005 Rawlings/ABCA National Player of the Year. A two-time All-MIAA selection, he was also named to the Central Region All-Tournament team three times, including MVP of the regional as a senior. He Holds UCM single-season record for wins (15), is second all-time in career wins with 31. He also holds single-season record for strikeouts with 129 in 2005 and his 277 career strikeouts is also a program record. His 2.47 career ERA is 10th best in program history. His 113.0 innings pitched in 2005 are second most in a single-season in UCM history and his 255 career innings are the fourth most all-time. Powers went 7-1 in the NCAA Tournament during his three years in the cardinal & black, including a win in the 2003 National Championship game against Tampa. Powers was a First Team Academic All-American and the UCM Vernon Kennedy Award winner as the school’s top senior male student-athlete. Was on the Dean’s List every semester while at Central Missouri, was an Academic All-MIAA selection and a three-time MIAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll member. Was a 2011 inductee into the Central Missouri Athletics Hall of Fame.
