Kathy (Kearns) Behounek, Cross Country/Track and Field Athlete
Northwest Missouri, 1996-97
She was a two-time All-America cross country performer in both 1996 and 1997. She won the 1996 MIAA Conference Championship in cross country and was a four-time All-MIAA and All-Region cross country performer. She is currently the school record holder in the 5,000K in cross country. She helped lead the Bearcat team to the 1997-98 triple crown of racing (winning cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field titles). She Led cross country team to top ten finishes at the NCAA Championships in 1996 (10th) and 1997 (5th). She was a six time conference champion in track and field as well. In 1998 she was the State of Missouri NCAA Woman of the Year and a finalist for the National Woman of the Year award. She was inducted into M-Club Hall of Fame in 2007 (Northwest Hall of Fame). She was an NCAA Post-graduate scholar and twice named to the Academic All-America and Academic All-Region Teams (1996 & 1997).
