Emporia State (1997-2001)
Bloss graduated in 2001 as one of the most decorated student-athletes in Emporia State history. The Wellsville, Kan., native was honored with four national student-athlete of the year awards, including the Daktronics Division II Player of the Year award and the Verizon Academic All-America of the Year award.
She was named the Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association and along with Notre Dame’s Ruth Riley was named the Verizon Academic All-America Team Member of the Year her senior year. She was named an NCAA Top VIII Student-Athlete, won the Ken B. Jones Award , and was named the NCAA Kansas Woman of the Year in 2001.
On the court, Bloss was a first-team all-MIAA performer and was the league’s Most Valuable Player. She finished her career as ESU’s second leading scorer with 1,915 points and fourth leading rebounder with 823 boards. Bloss missed one game in her four year career at ESU and the Lady Hornets were 119-10 in games in which she played.
The Lady Hornets won an unprecedented four straight undisputed (outright regular season and tournament) MIAA Championships during her career. At the time her 119 wins were the most by a basketball player in ESU and MIAA history.
She also competed in track and field for ESU as a freshman and earned All-American honors in the outdoor 1600 meter relay.
