Blair, Biermann Win Weekly Women's T&F Awards


KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jenny Blair (Southwest Baptist) and Katrina Biermann (Truman) have been named MIAA Women's Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 18-24 as selected by a conference SID panel. Biermann wins the award for the second week in a row (second overall in 2010), and Blair is a first-time honoree this season.
 
MIAA WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jenny Blair, Sr., Southwest Baptist
Blair broke school records in the 60 meters and 200 meters at ISU Open. The senior from Kansas City, Mo., finished fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 25.32. Blair set the 60-meter school mark with a time of 7.96 at the ISU Open after tying the mark at SIU Fast Start in December. She also ran eighth in the 400 meters at the ISU Open.

MIAA WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Katrina Biermann, Sr., Truman
Biermann broke two school records at the Iowa State Open on Saturday. The senior from Liberty, Mo., shattered the pole vault record of 12-07.50 feet with a mark of 13-00.25 feet, which is second-best in the nation in 2010. Biermann became the first MIAA female pole vaulter to eclipse the 13-foot mark (previous MIAA best was Denise Sandbothe, UCM, 3.91 meters [12-10.00 feet]). Biermann bested her triple jump record of 38-04.75 feet with a jump of 38-11.50 feet, which is currently seventh-best in the nation. She won the pole vault for the third straight meet this season.
