KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Anja Puc (Nebraska-Omaha), Kimi Shank (Missouri Southern) and Katrina Biermann (Truman) have been named MIAA Women's Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for indoor action from the beginning of the season through Jan. 17 as selected by a conference SID panel. Puc, Shank and Biermann are the first honorees of the 2010 indoor season.

MIAA WOMEN'S TRACK CO-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Anja Puc, Jr., Nebraska-Omaha
Running the 1,000 meters for the first time in her career, Puc won the event in a school-record time of 2:54.57 at the Holiday Inn Invitation, breaking the old mark by more than two seconds.  The junior from Medvode, Slovenia, was nearly five seconds faster than the second-place finisher, a Division I runner.  Puc also finished second in the 600-yard run at 1:24.43, the second-fastest time in school history, losing only to a Division I runner.

Kimi Shank, Sr., Missouri Southern
Shank took home the title in the 3,000 meters at the Missouri Invitational where she raced to a time of 9:58.49, just four seconds from a Missouri Southern record and easily besting her previous best time. The senior from St. James, Mo., beat five Division I runners in her race.

MIAA WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Katrina Biermann, Sr., Truman
Biermann broke her own school indoor record with an automatic qualifier mark in the pole vault in the first meet of the season at the Iowa State Cyclone Holiday Classic. The senior from Liberty, Mo., was also first with a provisional mark in the triple jump in that same meet.  A month later, Biermann won both events at the Iowa Hawkeye Open.
