MIAA Announces Women's Tournament Bracket

2011 MIAA Women's Basketball Championship Bracket

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – With Saturday's action complete, the bracket for the 2011 MIAA Women's Basketball Championship has been finalized.

Northwest Missouri, the MIAA regular season champion and No. 1 seed in the tournament, will face No. 8 seed Truman Friday at noon in the first round. The Bearcats swept the Bulldogs in the regular season, winning a 73-72 double overtime thriller in Kirksville and recording an 87-69 victory in Maryville.

Washburn is the No. 2 seed and will play No. 7 Missouri Western at 6 p.m. Friday in Kansas City. The Lady Blues and Griffons split the two regular season games, with MWSU winning 60-41 in St. Joseph and WU claiming a 95-74 victory in Topeka.

No. 3 Emporia State will take on No. 6 Central Missouri in the first round Friday at 8:15 p.m. The Lady Hornets swept the season series with a 63-58 victory in Warrensburg and a 76-61 triumph in Emporia.

No. 4 seed Missouri Southern will match up with No. 5 Pittsburg State Friday at 2:15 p.m. in first round action. The Lions and Gorillas spit the season series, with MSSU winning 60-52 in Joplin and PSU recording a 63-60 win in Pittsburg.
