UCM Sweeps Mens Track & Field Weekly Awards
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Central Missouri teammates
Darius Walker and Drew Frizzell have been named MIAA Men's Track
& Field Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 25-31
as selected by a conference SID panel. Walker and Frizzell are both
first-time honorees in 2010.
MIAA MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Darius Walker, So., Central Missouri
Walker won the heptathlon at the Doane Multi's with the
No. 1 mark in the nation, 5,104 points. The sophomore from Lee's
Summit, Mo., won both the 55-meter dash (6.65) and 55-meter hurdles
(7.95) during the meet, which had 23 competitors.
MIAA MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Drew Frizzell, Jr., Central Missouri
Frizzell won the weight throw at the Missouri Southern
Invitational with the No. 2 throw in the nation (67-6 ¾
feet). The junior from Chillicothe, Mo., also placed second in the
shot put with a provisional mark of 54-10 ¾ feet.
