#3 Southwest Baptist vs. #8 Central Oklahoma
MIAA Women's Soccer Championship Game
Kansas City, Mo. – Third seeded Southwest Baptist will face off with eighth seed Central Oklahoma in the MIAA Women’s Soccer Championship.
Southwest Baptist made it to the final with a 2-1 victory over Emporia State. In the first going with the wind Southwest Baptist struck first as Karla Jamison scored off a rebound to give SBU 1-0 lead. Jamison would then add a second goal in the 35th minute off an assist from Kate Jamison.
In the second half Emily Hazelwood would get an unassisted goal off a deflection in the box. Paige Hemphill earned the win for the Bearcats turning away two Hornet shots and ESU's Yadira Rivera turned away nine SBU shots in the loss.
On the season Karla Jamison leads the Bearccats with ten goals and three assists. Her twin sister Kate Jamison has seven goals and five assists and Ashley Creason has nine goals and three assists. In goal Paige Hemphill has a 1.42 goals against average with 85 saves and three shutouts.
For the Central Oklahoma they advanced with a 2-0 semi-final victory over Washburn. On a windy day Miranda Thorne got the scoring started in the 22nd minute scoring an unassisted goal off of a deflection. Emily Precure would add the second goal hitting from the middle of the box off a Paige Matacchiera assist.
Brandi Bartley turned away four Washburn shots to earn the shutout victory.
On the season for the Bronchos Sarah Purcell has nine goals and an assist to lead the attack. Emily Hahn has three goals and four assists while Caitlin Bond has three goals and three assists. In goal Brandi Bartley has a 1.07 goals against average with 67 saves and five shutouts.
First touch for the game is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Nov. 10 from the College Boulevard Activities Complex in Olathe, Kan.
