PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Pittsburg State University men’s track and field program won its sixth consecutive indoor title at the 2026 MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the Gorillas over the weekend in Pittsburg.
MIAA track and field teams filled the Gorillas’ Robert W. Plaster Center February 28-March 1 for the 2026 Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships. The three-day event crowned 16 individual MIAA champions, two MIAA champion relay teams and two indoor record-breaking performances.
The Gorillas posted 225 points – the highest point total in MIAA indoor championship history – to beat MIAA runner-up Northwest Missouri by 110 points. The Bearcats finished the meet with 115 points, while third-place Missouri Southern totaled 88.5 points.
Pitt State established a new point total record for a fourth straight year after compiling 208.5 points at the 2023 MIAA Indoor Championships in Pittsburg, 212 points at the 2024 MIAA Indoor Championships in Topeka, and a record-breaking 218.5 points at last season’s 2025 MIAA Indoor Championships in Maryville, Mo.
The Gorillas walked away with 21 All-MIAA performances, eight individual champions, and swept the championship’s relay races, winning both the 4x400 meter relay and distance medley relay. Both the Bearcats and the Lions totaled seven All-MIAA performances, which included three individual champions for Missouri Southern.
Two MIAA indoor championship records were broken this weekend in Pittsburg. Pitt State’s Ilias Garcia set a new indoor meet record in the men’s 60 meters with a winning time of 6.59. His teammate Caden Williams was responsible for the other broken record, winning the men’s 400-meter race in 46.24.
2026 MIAA Indoor High Point Scorer, Pittsburg State's Dylan Sprecker
Pitt State’s Dylan Sprecker took home MIAA High Point Award honors from the meet by securing 22.5 points. In addition to his two individual event wins in the mile run and 3000-meter run, he also helped Pitt State's distance medley relay to a win Saturday evening.
The final team scores and a list of all the All-MIAA performances from the 2026 MIAA Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship are below. To receive All-MIAA recognition, competitors had to place in the event’s top three.
