EMPORIA, Kan. – The Pittsburg State Gorillas won their second consecutive conference title at the 2025 MIAA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship with a record-breaking 271.5 team points. The Association awarded 63 All-MIAA finishes with five student-athletes earning All-MIAA honors in three separate events.
All 11 MIAA women’s track and field programs were in Emporia this weekend for the 2025 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted at the Hornets’ Francis G. Welch Stadium.
Pitt State totaled 271.5 points in the three-day event, crushing the previous MIAA record of 225 set by Emporia State in 1999. The championship is Pitt State’s eighth MIAA outdoor title in the last ten seasons. The Gorillas have now won an MIAA-leading 15 outdoor championships.
Washburn was the outdoor championship’s runner-up for the second straight season. The Ichabods totaled 117 team points, followed by Northwest Missouri with 108 points in third place. Missouri Southern finished fourth with 91.5 points and Central Missouri placed fifth with 66 points.

Only one MIAA women’s record was broken at the 2025 championship. Pittsburg State’s Kate Strader broke a 39-year-old league record in the 1500 meters. Strader won the event in 4:22.42, breaking the previous record of 4:30.23 set by Kaura Burne of Southeast Missouri State University in 1986.

Paige Mullen was the women’s championship’s high points scorer, accounting for 28 of the Gorillas’ record-breaking team total. The sophomore from Overland Park, Kan. won the women’s 5000 meters and 10000 meters and was the runner-up of the 1500 meters.
Sixty-three All-MIAA honors were awarded at the 2025 women's outdoor championship with 16 student-athletes earning more than one All-MIAA recognition. There were five athletes who earned All-MIAA honors in three separate events — Pittsburg State's Diandrenique Gaines, Jamiya Morgan, Paige Mullen and Blakelee Winn, and Northwest Missouri's Chloe Saenz.
To receive All-MIAA recognition, competitors had to place in the event’s top three. A complete list of the 63 All-MIAA outdoor women's track and field honors from all 21 women's events is listed below.
The 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships are May 22-24 in Pueblo, Colo., hosted by Colorado State University-Pueblo.
