KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The 2025 MIAA volleyball season ended in a three-way tie for the Regular Season Champion crown. Nebraska Kearney, Missouri Western and Washburn each concluded the regular season with league records of 13-3 for a share of the regular season title.
The final matches of the 2025 MIAA volleyball season ended on Saturday, November 15, with the top eight teams advancing to the Association’s postseason championship tournament, hosted November 20-22 at
Civic Arena in St. Joseph, Missouri.
The regular-season championship is the Lopers’ second consecutive MIAA title and eighth overall (three shared, five outright), while the Ichabods collected their sixth regular season title (four shared, two outright) and first since 2013. The shared crown is the Griffons’ second regular season championship, having also been named MIAA co-champions with the Lopers in 2017.
Among the three MIAA co-champions, Nebraska Kearney clinched the top seed in the postseason championship with regular season wins over Missouri Western and Washburn. The No. 1-seeded Lopers (26-3, 13-3 MIAA) will take on No. 8 seed Fort Hays State (16-12, 5-11 MIAA) in the MIAA quarterfinals on Thursday, November 20.
Missouri Western (21-6, 13-3 MIAA) earned the No. 2 seed with two regular season victories over the Ichabods. The Griffons will face No. 7 seed Pittsburg State (12-14, 6-10 MIAA) in the first match of the 2025 championship.
No. 3 seed Washburn (24-3, 13-3 MIAA) will battle No. 6 seed Central Missouri (20-7, 11-5 MIAA), and No. 4 seed Central Oklahoma (26-4, 12-4 MIAA) will take on No. 5 seed Emporia State (21-6, 12-4 MIAA) in Thursday’s quarterfinal contests. The Bronchos earned the higher seed over the Hornets with their five-set regular season victory over the Hornets in the regular season.
The action officially begins at 12 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, in St. Joseph’s Civic Arena. Semifinal matches are scheduled for 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday, November 21, with the championship match set for 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 22.
