INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Committee has announced the participants for the 2025 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships. Six MIAA teams and eight individuals will compete in the national championships, held on Saturday, November 22, at Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Thirty-four NCAA Division II cross country teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top three, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 24 teams. Ten additional teams were selected at-large. A minimum of 24 additional individuals were selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and an at-large selection process. Four men’s teams, two women’s teams, and eight additional student-athletes will represent the MIAA in the 2025 NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships.
Northwest Missouri and Washburn men automatically qualified for the national championship with the top-two finishes at the 2025 Central Region Championships. The Bearcats were crowned regional champions with runners Aziz Mohammed and Drew Atkins placing first and second individually. Washburn was the Central Region’s runner-up – the Ichabods’ best finish in program history. Nebraska Kearney and Pittsburg State both earned at-large bids into the men’s national championship meet.
The NCAA additionally selected four MIAA individuals to compete in the men’s race: Missouri Southern’s Jaden Deaton and Chase Sorrell, Missouri Western’s Wimachmorr Gilo and Newman’s Timothy Kiprotich. Kiprotich will be Newman’s first male student-athlete to compete in the men’s national cross country championship.
Both Pittsburg State and Nebraska Kearney automatically qualified for the women’s national championship meet with top-three finishes at the Central Region Championship. The Gorillas were the runners-up in the Central Region, followed by the Lopers in third.
Four MIAA individuals will also compete in the national championships on the women’s side: Fort Hays State’s Emily Diercks-McCullough, Northwest Missouri’s Olivia Bakker, Rogers State’s Amy Morefield and Washburn’s Kyla Lochtefeld.
Emily Diercks-McCullough was crowned the league’s back-to-back individual champion at the 2025 MIAA championships. She went on to win the individual title at the Central Region Championship, becoming the first-ever Tiger to claim a regional title in the Fort Hays State's Division II era.

Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The women’s race will begin at 10:00 a.m. Central Time, followed by the men’s race at 11:15 p.m. Central Time.
