KANSAS CITY, Missouri - Lincoln and Pittsburg State advanced in the 2020 MIAA Men's Basketball Championships presented by Citizens Bank & Trust. No. 9 Lincoln defeated No. 8 Central Oklahoma and No. 10 Pittsburg State rallied passed No. 7 Nebraska-Kearney in overtime. Below are game recaps from today's games.

No. 9 Lincoln 78, No. 8 Central Oklahoma 69 - Box Score
The No. 9 seeded-Lincoln Blue Tigers defeated the No. 8 seeded-Central Oklahoma Bronchos, in the first round matchup of the 2020 MIAA Men's Basketball Championship, 78-69. It is the sixth time that the No. 9 seed has won a game at the MIAA Tournament.

Lincoln may be the Blue Tigers, but they were red hot from the field shooting a blazing 56.8% from the field, including 52.9% from behind the arc. The Blue Tigers were led in scoring by Marcel Burton with 15, followed by Bansi King with 14 and Cameron Potts with 13. L'Kielynn Taylor led Lincoln with 12 rebounds and Marcus Cohen led the team with seven assists.

Dashon Bell led the Bronchos with 15 points, Colt Savage added 14 and Carson Calavan added 11. Dashawn McDowell led Central Oklahoma with seven rebounds.

Lincoln will advance to the second round of the tournament and will play No. 1 seeded-Northwest Missouri State at 6 p.m. tomorrow. The Bearcats eliminated the Blue Tigers in the semifinal game of the MIAA Tournament last season winning 86-69.

No. 10 Pittsburg State 79, No. 7 Nebraska-Kearney 76 (OT) - Box Score
Pittsburg State became just the second No. 10 seed to win a game in the MIAA Tournament with their 79-76 overtime victory over No. 7 Nebraska-Kearney. PSU erased a14-point second-half deficit to rally back for the win.

Pittsburg State shot 43.3% from the field, including 30.8% from behind the arc. A.J. Walker led the Gorillas with 21 points, followed by Jah-Kobe Womack with 17, Christian Edmondson with 12, and Antonio Givens II chipped in 10 points. Walker also led Pittsburg State with 10 rebounds, to give him a double-double and five assists. Walker played all 45 minutes in the game.

Morgan Soucie led all scorers with 26 points. Jake Walker added 13 points and AJ Jackson added 12. Jackson and Soucie led the Lopers with eight rebounds each. Walker led Nebraska-Kearney with six assists.

The Gorillas advance to the quarterfinals and will play Rogers State at 8:15 p.m. This will be Rogers State's first appearance in the MIAA Tournament.
