KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Third-seeded Lindenwood survived a late surge by sixth-seeded Pittsburg State, 54-50, in the MIAA Women’s Basketball Championship Quarterfinals at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri. The 2019 MIAA Basketball Championships are presented by

LWU took a 16-point lead, the largest lead of the game, with 1:39 left in the third quarter. But Pittsburg State stormed back with a 17-5 run to make it a three-point game with 36 seconds left in the game. After two missed free throws by the Lions, the Gorillas missed its final two looks to force overtime. Lexie Moe iced the game for Lindenwood on a free-throw with three seconds remaining.
Lindenwood advances to play second-seeded Central Missouri in the MIAA Women’s Basketball Championship semifinals on Saturday, March 9 at 8:15 p.m.
