Lincoln Advances To MIAA Semifinals Behind 53 Combined Points From Olsson, Burton

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fifth-seeded Lincoln outlasted Fourth-seeded Fort Hays State 74-68 in the MIAA Men’s Basketball Championship Quarterfinals at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri. The 2019 MIAA Basketball Championships are presented by MoDOT’s Buckle Up, Phone Down campaign.

A three-pointer by Terrance Smith with 46 seconds left provided the final push to send the Blue Tigers to the MIAA semifinal for the first time since 1987. LU’s Grant Olsson and Jonell Burton combined for 55 points and 12 rebounds in the win. Fort Hays State was led by Aaron Nicholson’s 18 points.

Lincoln advances to play top-seeded Northwest Missouri in the MIAA Men’s Basketball Championship semifinals on Saturday, March 9 at 12 p.m.
