KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The MIAA released its weekly men's basketball athlete of the week honor presented by MoDOT's "Buckle Up Phone Down" campaign. This week's accolade was earned by Central Oklahoma's Adarius Avery for the second consecutive week. For the season, it is his third athlete of the week honor.

Avery averaged 33 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. He shot 71.4 percent from the floor on the week (25-of-35) and was 93.8 percent from the free-throw line (15-of-6). Avery had two assists, and one block and one steal. Against Northeastern State, he had 29 points and eight rebounds. Four days later, Avery netted 37 points (16-of-22 from the field) and grabbed 11 rebounds against Emporia State.

The 2018-19 Men's Basketball All-MIAA Teams and Postseason Awards will be announced at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Brady Werth - Fort Hays State
Werth averaged a double-double last week helping Fort Hays State to a 2-0 week and secure fourth place in the MIAA standings. He also became the 21st player in program history to reach 1,000 points in a career. In a 71-61 win over Pittsburg State, Werth eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career by scoring 20 points, also pulling down a career-high 14 rebounds.

Kooper Glick - Emporia State
Glick averaged 24.5 points as Emporia State punched their ticket to Kansas City with back-to-back MIAA road wins. He had 14 points on 7-of-13 shooting in the Hornets 83-76 win at Northeastern State. Glick came back with a career-high 35 points and six made three-pointers in Emporia State's 100-95 win at Central Oklahoma. He went 51.5 percent from the field, 40 percent from behind the arc and 100 percent from the free-throw line.

Brad Newman - Lindenwood
Newman averaged 28.5 points per game and shot 63.3 percent from the field (19-of-30) during Lindenwood's back-to-back wins last week. Newman scored 34 points (10-of-13 FG, 5-of-7 3PFG) on Feb. 27 against Central Missouri. Three days later, Newman totaled 23 points (9-of-17 FG, 3-of-6 3PFG) in a win over Southwest Baptist.

Cam Martin - Missouri Southern
Martin helped the Lions to a split on the road this week at Fort Hays and Nebraska-Kearney. He averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds in the two contest, while also pulling in 2.0 blocks and 1.5 assists and shooting 63 percent from the field and 88 percent from the free-throw line. Martin started his week with 29 points and eight rebounds at Fort Hays State, going 9-of-14 from the field and 11-of-13 from the free throw line. He followed that up with a 21-point, 12-rebound showing at Nebraska Kearney.

Joey Witthus - Northwest Missouri
Witthus averaged a team-best 24.0 points per game as helped Northwest finish off a perfect 19-0 MIAA season with two victories. He carried the Bearcats with 29 points in a 70-68 win over rival Missouri Western going 9-of-16 from the field and 8-of-9 at the free-throw line against the Griffons. Witthus finished the regular season with 19 points and was 9-of-10 at the free throw line in a 72-49 victory at Washburn. He drained 17-of-19 free throws (89.5 percent) in the two wins.
