KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The MIAA announced the standings of the 2018-19 Commissioner’s Cup presented by
McCownGordon Construction. The current standings are through 12 completed sports, six from the fall and six in the winter.
The leader after the winter sports season is Pittsburg State with an average of 10.68 points. The Gorillas claimed conference championships in women’s cross country and women’s indoor track and field. PSU also added top-three finishes in football and men’s indoor track and field.
Fort Hays State trails the top spot by approximately two-tenths of a point (10.45). The Tigers added a women’s basketball conference championship to go with the football and men’s soccer titles won during the fall. FHSU also tied for third place in women’s soccer and finished fourth in men’s basketball.
Nebraska Kearney is in third place with 8.7 points. The Lopers won the wrestling championship to go along with their volleyball crown in the fall. Missouri Southern is slotted fourth in the standings with 8.66 points. In the winter sports, MSSU had top-five finishes in men’s basketball, men’s indoor track and field and women’s indoor track and field. The Commissioner’s Cup top-five was rounded out by Central Missouri at 8.63 points. UCM was the men’s indoor track and field champion with a runner-up finish in women’s basketball as well.

The standings are based on points earned from the regular season finish in each of the sports recognized by the MIAA divided by the number of those sports sponsored by each respective member institution.
