MIAA Women’s Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week
Cassidy Menke, F, Missouri Western State University
Menke, a junior from O’Fallon, Mo., was a huge part of a history making weekend for Griffon soccer. The junior scored two goals and totaled four points as Missouri Western broke its program record for wins in a season. She scored the second goal in a 3-0 win at Central Oklahoma, Friday, and had the game-winner at Northeastern State, Sunday.
Others nominated: Abby Rhodes, Central Missouri.
MIAA Women’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week
Bridget Blessie, F, Missouri Western State University
Blessie, a senior from Papillon, Neb., helped the Griffon backline limit Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State to a combined four shots on goal and aided the offensive effort with a goal and an assist on the weekend. Blessie scored the Griffons first goal of a 3-0 win at UCO and assisted on another in that victory, totaling three points on the weekend.
Others nominated: Kayla Hamner, Central Missouri.
MIAA Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week
Sarah Lyle, GK, Missouri Western State University
Lyle, a senior from Duluth, Minn., didn’t allow a goal in her teams trip to Oklahoma over the weekend. The two shutouts this past weekend helped the Griffons break an MWSU program record with nine shutouts in a season. Her defense made the job a little easier as Lyle only had to save four shots to hold both Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State scoreless on the road.
Others nominated: Ana Dilkes, Central Missouri; Ashlyn Gibbs, Southwest Baptist.
