KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma got 12 of the 14 possible first place votes as they were selected first by the coaches in the preseason softball poll released today. Missouri Western grabbed the other two first place votes as they were picked to finish second by the coaches.
Pittsburg State is just one point behind the Griffons in the poll while Northwest Missouri was picked to finish fourth. Central Missouri was picked fifth just four points ahead of Northeastern State who earned the sixth slot. Southwest Baptist was picked to finish seventh just four points ahead of Emporia State who was picked eight.
Fort Hays State earned the ninth spot in the poll coming in ahead of Missouri Southern who was picked 10
th by the league coaches. Washburn earned the 11
th spot in this year’s poll coming in just nine points ahead of Nebraska-Kearney.
The Lopers were picked six points ahead of Lindenwood who was picked 13
th ahead of Lincoln who landed in the 14
th spot.
The season is scheduled to get underway on Feb. 2-5 with all the league teams going out on the road. They will start the journey to the MIAA Tournament which will be held on April 27-29 at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
