Ten individual champions crowned on the first full day

Maryville, Mo. – After the first day, with four men’s events and six women’s events scored Pittsburg State currently sits a top the standings on both sides heading into the second day at the MIAA Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
 
The first championship event to come to a close was the heptathlon where Emilyn Dearman scored 5,363 points to claim the MIAA title. Chloe Wichmann of Northwest Missouri was second with Central Missouri’s Victoria Jackson finishing third and earning All-MIAA honors. In the men’s decathlon it was Tanner McNutt scoring 7,315 points to claim the MIAA championship. Blake Seitz of Central Missouri was second and Derrick Schluter finished in third.
 
In the women’s discus Mariah Garcia of Central Oklahoma set a new MIAA record with a throw of 179’ 9” to earn the 10 points. Central Missouri’s Heavin Warner was second with a throw that also passed the previous record and Cassie Caswell of Pittsburg State came in third. In the men’s discus Central Missouri’s Caniggia Raynor used a throw of 181’ 3” to win the MIAA title. Second place went to Bo Farrow of Pittsburg State and LIndenwood’s Deondra Canaday finished third.
 
Next up was the women’s pole vault where Brittany Kallenberger of Central Missouri cleared 12’ 8.75: to earn the top spot. Emily Presley of Missouri Southern was second while her teammate Melanie Bower tied with Southwest Baptist’s Staci Wickersham for third. In the men’s pole vault Central Missouri’s Cole Phillips cleared 16’ 8.75” to earn the MIAA championship. Lindenwood’s Xavier Boland and Morgan Hold each cleared 16’ 4.75” to tie for second.
 
In the men’s long jump it was Lincoln’s Sedeeki Edie tieing a meet record with a jump of 25’ 5.5” to claim the hardware. Louis Rollins of Pittsburg State finished second and Michael Mlambo of Lindenwood was third. In the women’s event Diana Cauldwell jumped 20’ 3.75” to automatically qualify for nationals and win the event. Kaylee Morgan of Missouri Southern was second and her teammate Brittani Reagan was third.
 
In the women’s hammer Heavin Warner used a throw of 205’ 2” to win the event. Pittsburg State’s Cassie Casswell was second and Mariah Garcia from Central Oklahoma finished in third.
 
In the only event on the track on day one Vincent Kiprop of Missouri Southern ran the 10,000 meter run in 31:04.32 to claim the title. Northwest Missouri’s Nolan Zimmer came in second and Austin Bogina of Pittsburg State was third to also earn All-MIAA honors. In the women’s 10,000 meters Micki Krzesinski of Fort Hays State ran a 36:47.95 to earn the championship. Hannah DeVries of Pittsburg State was second and Cynthis Torres of Missouri Southern finished in third.
 
The track meet continues tomorrow with finals on the track and the second half of the field events.
