St. Charles, Mo. – Seventh seeded Central Oklahoma racked up 10 hits as they eliminated sixth seeded Northeastern State by a 6-2 score in the second round of the MIAA Baseball Tournament.
Central Oklahoma struck first as Jon Kamies singled through the left side to drive home Jacob Borrego in the bottom of the first inning. The Bronchos grabbed another run in the bottom of the second as Borrego had a sacrifice fly to drive home T.J. Sparr and make it a 2-0 lead.
UCO would strike again in the bottom of the fifth inning as Landon Eason singled through the left to drive in Borrego and Jake Dyer. NSU plated their first run in the top of the seventh as Cody Begovich homered over the right field wall. The RiverHawks would grab another run later in the inning when Shane Bridges drove in Michael Rae to cut the lead in half.
In the bottom of the seventh inning Landon Eason tripled to drive in a run and then came around to score on a passed ball to make it a 6-2 advantage.
For the Bronchos Sparr went two for four with a run scored and Eason finished two for three with three runs driven in. For the RiverHawks Rhea went two for three with a run scored on the morning. On the mound Brock Stubber picked up the win going 6.2 innings allowing two earned runs and striking out four.
UCO will now face the loser of Emporia State/Washburn tomorrow at 9 a.m. from Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.
