Springfield, Mo. – The top seeds help serve in the second session of the first day of the MIAA Women’s Tennis Tournament at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo.
 
#3 Nebraska-Kearney 5, #6 Missouri Western 2
Nebraska-Kearney used a doubles sweep to propel themselves to a 5-2 victory over Nebraska-Kearney in the MIAA Women’s Tennis Tournament.
 
At #1 doubles Jadyn Trimble and Camryn Parnell earned an 8-5 victory and a #2 it was Sherry Sun and Sthefani Rodriguez with an 8-3 win. Emma Neil and Paula Jiminez closed out doubles with an 8-6 victory at the #3 slot.
 
In single Missouri Western grabbed a point back as Yasmine El Ghazi pulled out a 6-2, 6-2 win. They would grab another points at the #4 spot with Joanna Abreu Roman scoring a 7-6, 6-4 victory. UNK got things back on track with a 6-4, 6-4 win from Rodriguez at the #2 spot and then Jiminez closed the door with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win.
 
Nebraska-Kearney will face off with Southwest Baptist in the semifinal round tomorrow at 12 noon from the Cooper Tennis Complex.
 
#4 Northwest Missouri 5, #5 Central Oklahoma 3
Northwest Missouri earned a 5-3 win over Central Oklahoma to earn a spot in the semifinals of the MIAA Women’s Tennis Tournament.
 
NWMSU jumped on top early as Lorena Rivas and Vilune Sestokaite earned an 8-3 win to put them up 1-0 in #1 doubles. Things continued as at #2 doubles Aniek Kolen and Margaux Jacquet squeaked out a 9-7 victory and at the #3 slot Andrea Gallardo and Kaja Emersic pulled out an 8-5 win.
 
As things moved to singles UCO got on the board as Alli Hodges won 6-2, 6-2 at the #1 singles slot. They would grab a second point in the #3 match as Alix Williams earned the 6-4, 6-3 win. They earned a third point as at the #5 spot Emilie Semo earned a 6-3, 7-5 victory.
 
NWMSU would get back on track in #4 singles as Jacquet earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Vilune Sestokaite would close out the match at #6 singles with a 7-5, 6-2 win.
 
NWMSU will face top seeded Northeastern State tomorrow at 12 noon in the semifinal round from Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo.
