Oklahoma City, Okla. – Only four teams remain in the MIAA Softball Tournament as the first round of the day is in the books from ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.
#8 Southwest Baptist 3, #2 Northwest Missouri 1 (NWMSU eliminated)
Eighth seeded Southwest Baptist used the power of two home runs to upset second seeded Northwest Missouri 3-1 to stay alive in the MIAA Softball Tournament.
Caitlyn Cooner went two for three for the SBU Bearcats with two home runs driving in all of the team’s runs. Dana Graves also went two for three on the afternoon scoring a run.
In the circle Kacey Ayers pitched all seven innings allowing just one run to pick up the victory.
Southwest Baptist will face Pittsburg State in an elimination game starting shortly on field four.
#4 Pittsburg State 9, #6 Central Missouri 4 (UCM eliminated)
Fourth seeded Pittsburg State racked up 14 hits on the way to a 9-4 victory over sixth seeded Central Missouri.
Nicole Nease led the way for the Gorillas going two for five with two runs driven in as Catie Cummins went one for three scoring two runs and driving in two. For the Jennies Lauren Mabe had two hits and Allie Dishinger hit a two run home run.
In the circle Emmie Robertson allowed seven hits and four earned runs to pick up the victory.
Pittsburg State will now face Southwest Baptist on field four shortly in an elimination game.
