Kansas City, Mo. – Fourth seeded Emporia State shot .543 from the field as they knocked off top seeded Missouri Western 85-74 in semifinal play.
For the Lady Hornets Kelly Moten led the way scoring 23 points, pulling down five rebounds and dishing out four assists. Sandra Ngoie added 16 points and Kathryn Flott had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
For the Griffons Milli Koyamainavure had 19 points and pulled down four rebounds going two of two from the three point line. Sarafina Handy had 16 points and LaQuinta Jefferson added 12 points on the afternoon.
ESU will face Pittsburg State, who won earlier today, in the MIAA Women’s Basketball Tournament Championship at 1 p.m. on March 6 from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
Note: this will mark the sixth straight MIAA Championship game for ESU
