Kansas City, Mo. – Third seeded Fort Hays State started the second half on an 11-0 run as they defeated sixth seeded Missouri Southern 79-65 in the quarterfinals of the MIAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.
 
For the Tigers Jill Faxon led the way coming just shy of a double-double with 18 points a nine rebounds. Beth Bohuslavsky finished with 13 points, Nikola Kacperska and Chelsea Mason had 12 points while Taylor Chandler finished with 11 points.
 
For the Lions it was Sharese Jones leading the way with 21 points and seven rebounds. Deb Holcomb added 11 points while Jenson Maydew finished 10 points and seven boards.
 
FHSU will advance to face the winner of #2 Pittsburg State and #10 Central Missouri at 12 noon on March 5 from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
