Kansas City, Mo. – The MIAA Men's Basketball Tournament gets underway with four first round games on March 1 from campus sites.
#12 Central Missouri at #5 Central Oklahoma
Fifth seeded Central Oklahoma opens the MIAA Men’s Basketball Tournament against 12
th seeded Central Missouri in Edmond.
The Bronchos are led by Conrell Neal who is averaging 13.8 points and Seth Heckart is dishing out 2.3 assists per game. Garen Wright is averaging 10.9 points and Trai Jordan 5.2 rebounds per contest.
For the Mules D’Marnier Cunningham is averaging 15.0 points per game while Marquiez Lawrence leads the way with 7.4 rebounds per game. Spencer Reaves is averaging 12.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
The winner advances to take on fourth seeded Fort Hays State at 8:15 p.m. on Friday, March 4 from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
#11 Missouri Western at #6 Washburn
Sixth seeded Washburn will open the MIAA Men’s Basketball Tournament by hosting 11
th seed Missouri Western.
For the Ichabods Javion Blake is leading the way averaging 13.7 points while Cameron Wiggins averaging 12.5 points per game. Brady Skeens is averaging 10.4 points and team best 9.9 rebounds while Randall Smith averages 10.1 points per contest.
For the Griffons Trey Sampson is averaging a team best 12.0 points per game. Aaron Emmanuel is averaging 11.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.
The winner advances to take on third seeded Missouri Southern at 12 noon on Friday, March 4 from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
#10 Emporia State at #7 Lincoln
Seventh seeded Lincoln will host an opening round match-up with tenth seed Emporia State in the MIAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
The Blue Tigers are led by Anthony Virdure who is averaging 21.8 points and 3.4 assists per game. Jaylon Smith is averaging 18.1 points and 3.0 rebounds while Richie Lewis is dishing out a team best 4.1 assists.
The Hornets are led by Terrence Moore who is averaging 16.3 points per game and Joshua Oswald with 5.1 boards. Charles McKinney is averaging 11.0 points per contest this season.
The winner advances to take on second seeded Nebraska-Kearney at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, March 4 from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
#9 Lindenwood at #8 Pittsburg State
Eighth seeded Pittsburg State will face off with ninth seed Lindenwood to open the MIAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
The Gorillas are led by Trey Starks who is averaging 16.4 points per game and Josiah Gustafson averages 15.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Dakota Jones is averaging 11.8 points and Javis Flynn is averaging 4.9 assists per game.
The Lions are led by Cory Arentsen who is averaging 23.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Brad Newman is averaging 11.6 Points and 2.9 assists while Stanislas Heili is averaging a team best 8.0 rebounds per game.
