ALL-MIAA SELECTIONS ANNOUNCED FOR FOOTBALL

NWMSU places nine on the first team

Kansas City, Mo. – MIAA Champion Northwest Missouri placed nine on the All-MIAA first team as the awards were released today.
 
The first team offense is led by MIAA Offensive Player of the Year. Northwest Missouri quarterback Kyle Zimmerman. Zimmerman leads the MIAA in touchdown passes this season with 34 while averaging 277.8 yards per game passing.
 
At the two running back slots are Missouri Western’s Josh Caldwell and Fort Hays State’s Shaquille Cooper. They are joined at the skill positions by wide recievers Jaylen Zachery of Central Missouri, Mitchell Foote of Emporia State and Levi Copelin of Pittsburg State. Also in the offensive backfield is Northwest Missouri tight end/fullback Jordan Grove.
 
Along the offensive line are NWMSU’s Chase Sherman and Jamie Theiman, UCM’s Derrick Puni, ESU’s Jarrett Statsny and MWSU’s Travis Anderson.
 
The MIAA Special Teams Player of the Year is Jaylen Zachery of Central Missouri who has returned a league best two kicks and one punt for a touchdown and is the first team return specialist. The kicker for the second straight season is Northwest Missouri’s Simon Mathiesen.
 
The defense starts along the line where you will find MIAA Defensive Player of the Year Sie Doe Jr. of Fort Hays State. Doe Jr. leads the MIAA with 15 total sacks and is also tops in tackles for a loss with 18.5 on the year. Joining him along the line are Emporia State’s Eddie Vinson and Northwest Missouri’s Cass Weitl and Collins Bevins.
 
The linebackers are Northwest Missouri’s Jacob Vollstedt, Lindenwood’s Connor Harris, Washburn’s Cody Heiman and Nebraska-Kearney’s Tyke Kozeal. Behind them in the defensive backfield are Central Missouri's Tevin Teamer, Northwest Missouri's Kevin Berg, Fort Hays State’s Raheme Dumas and Pittsburg State’s Deron Washington. Earning first team honors at punter from Pittsburg State is Carter Anchors.
 
Also making the special awards list this season is Freshman of the Year Brenner Clemons a wide receiver from Pittsburg State. Clemons has 42 catches for 559 yards and four touchdowns on the season.
 
The MIAA Coach of the Year is Adam Dorrel of Northwest Misosuri who led his team to their fourth straight MIAA title last weekend.
