Maryville, Mo. – Northwest Missouri claimed their fourth straight MIAA Regular season championship in football today and won their 12th since the year 2000. The top ranked Bearcats held Missouri Western to just 83 total yards in a 44-3 victory to finish unbeaten in league play for the second straight season.
 
For the game NWMSU’s Kyle Zimmerman was 18 of 30 for 246 yards and two touchdowns also adding a score on the ground. Phil Jackson II carried the ball 10 times for 108 yards averaging 10.8 yards per carry.
 
On defense Jack Young and Jacob Vollstedt led the way with nine tackles each and Kevin Berg had an interception.
 
All of the league teams will now await the announcement of the field for the NCAA Division II National Tournament, which will be live on Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. on ncaa.com.
