Kansas City, Mo. – Emporia State earned the final spot in Kansas City taking the last of a three-game series with Lindenwood in the MIAA Baseball Tournament.

Emporia State grabbed a 9-3 lead after seven and held on to defeat Lindenwood and earn the final slot in the second round.
For the Hornets Jordan Hodges was one for four but drove in three runs on the afternoon. Dalton Wheat was two for five with two runs scored and two runs driven in as Evan Koehler and Cody Bobbit each scored twice as well. On the mound Jarrod Miller went five innings allowing just five hits and one earned run to earn the win while Shawn Talkington pitched the final four innings to earn the save.
For the Lions Wes Degener drove in three runs and Wade Rothermich finished with two runs batted in.
ESU will now take on third seeded Central Missouri at 2:30 p.m. on May 7 from CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Kan.
