Three teams move on, one series faces game three

Kansas City, Mo. – Three teams advanced while one series was stretched to the third game of the best of three series as the second night came to a close in the MIAA baseball tournament.
 
#7 Lindenwood 7, #2 Emporia State 3
Seventh seeded Lindenwood made an early 4-0 lead stand up as they evened the best of three series with second seeded Emporia State.
 
At the plate for the Lions Drew Quinones was three for five with a home runs, two runs driven in and two runs scored. Ryan Light was two for five with a home run and two runs scored and Wes Degener also hit one out of the park. On the mound Austin Klein allowed just six hits over five innings to earn the victory and Brendan Kleekamp pitched four innings of relief to pick up the save.

For the Hornets Dalton Wheat, Cody Bobbit and Wade Hanna all drove in runs.
 
The two teams will play the rubber match tomorrow at 1 p.m. from Emporia, Kan.
 
#5 Washburn 9, #4 Missouri Western 1
Fifth seeded Washburn used a five-run fourth inning to eliminate fourth seeded Missouri Western and win their best of three series 2-0.
 
For the Ichabods at the plate Kyle Carnahan had three hits, driving in three runs and also scoring three runs. Parker Gibson and Payton Soicher also had three hits each and scored two runs. On the mound Mike Hefferan threw a complete game two hitter to earn the victory.
 
For the Griffons Cosmo Cannella had the lone run with a home run in the second inning.
 
Washburn will now face top seeded Missouri Southern at 11 a.m. on May 7 from CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Mo.
 
#1 Missouri Southern 6, #8 Northeastern State 1
Top seeded Missouri Southern punched their ticket to Kansas City as they eliminated eight seeded Northeastern State 2-0 in a best of three series.
 
At the plate for the Lions Richie Gorski was one for four with a two run home runs. Chris Hoffman was two for three and scored two runs as Jesse Rall and Jacob Bryan also drove in runs. On the mound Payton Walker threw a complete game allowing just five hits and striking out ten.
 
For the RiverHawks Preston Cash drove in Jared Aschbrenner for the lone run of the ballgame.
 
Missouri Southern will now face fifth seeded Washburn at 11 a.m. on May 7 from CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Mo.
 
#3 Central Missouri 7, #6 Nebraska-Kearney 5
Third seeded Central Missouri came back from two deficits as they eliminated sixth seeded Nebraska-Kearney and earned a slot in the second round of the tournament in Kansas City, Mo.

Jackson Schnurbusch had two hits driving in two runs at the plate for the Mules on the night. Bennett Oliver had two runs scored  as the Mules racked up 14 hits in the ballgame. On the mound Jake Heissler pitched the final three innings to earn the victory.
 
At the plate for the Lopers Max Ayoub drove in scored two runs while Anthony Pacheco drove in two runs and Coby Roming had a team best three hits.
 
Central Missouri will await the winner of the ESU/LWU series at 2:30 p.m. on May 7 from CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Mo.
