Springfield, Mo. – The top seeds all advanced to the semifinals as Nebraska-Kearney and Northwest Missouri won in the afternoon session of the MIAA Women’s Tennis Tournament.
 
Nebraska-Kearney  5, Emporia State 2
Fourth seeded UNK jumped on top early as they swept through doubles starting with an 8-4 victory by Emily Fink and Sthefani Rodriguez at the #1 spot. In #2 doubles Paula Jimenez and Kristin Weems earned an 8-2 victory. In the third spot Kari Emery and Emma Neil pulled out an 8-4 win.
 
ESU would respond by grabbing their first point in the match as at #1 singles Tawni Griffey earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory. ESU would get another points at #3 singles as Tayler Smith defeated Puala Jiminez of UNK. Sthefani Rodriguez of UNK would answer at #2 singles with a 7-6, 6-1 victory to make the lead 4-2. Emily Fink would then close the door with a 6-4, 6-2 win at the #4 slot.
 
Nebraska-Kearney will now face top seeded Northeastern State at 9 a.m. on April 25 from the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo.
 
Northwest Missouri 5, Central Oklahoma 0
Third seeded Northwest Missouri swept through doubles, but needed extra sets at #1 as Camila Quesada and Lorena Rivas pulled out a 9-8 win. In the #2 spot Margaux Jaquet and Marianne Hull used an 8-6 win to make it a 2-0 match lead. Stephanie Mannix and Aniek Kolen added an 8-2 win the #3 doubles position.
 
 In singles Central Oklahoma picked up their lone point as Alina Gorina won the #1 slot with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Camila Quesada. Then at #3 singles Margaux Jaquet made it a 4-1 lead with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Stephanie Mannix would then defeat Emily Semo 6-4, 6-0 at the #4 slot to close out the match.
 
Central Oklahoma will now face seconds seeded Southwest Baptist at 9 a.m. on April 25 from the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo.
