Kansas City, Mo. – The top two seeds will meet in the MIAA Women’s Basketball Tournament Championship on March 8 at 3:30 p.m. when Fort Hays State faces off with Emporia State.
For the Tigers it is the first MIAA Championship game in school history as they average 73.7 points while allowing 54.2 points per game. They are led by Kate Lehman who is averaging a double-double scoring 19.3 points and pulling down 10.2 rebounds per game. Chelsea Mason is averaging 12.6 points and Nikola Kacperska is averaging 3.0 assists per game. In the tournament Lehman is averaging 21.0 points and Chelsea Mason 20.0 points per game.
The Lady Hornets are playing in their fifth straight MIAA Championship game and are averaging 73.1 points and allowing opponents 55.0 points per contest. They are led by Kelly Moten who is averaging 15.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. Merissa Quick is averaging 11.6 points and 6.7 rebounds while Addie Lackey is averaging 10.4 points per game. In the tournament Quick is averaging 14.0 points 3.5 blocks per game.
The winner earns the MIAA’s automatic bid into the NCAA Central Regional which is slate for next weekend at a location to be determined.
