FORT HAYS STATE HEADS INTO CHAMPIONSHIP

Defeats Central Missouri 59-53 in semifinal

Kansas City, Mo. -- Top seeded Fort Hays State got 18 points off of turnovers as they defeated #5 Central Missouri 59-53 in the first of two semifinals at the MIAA WOmen's Basketball Tournament.

For the Tigers Kate Lehman had a double-double scoring 18 points and pulling down 13 rebounds also adding five blocked shots. Chelsea Mason had 17 points and Nikola Kacperska finished with 12 points while Keriann Shaw pulled down 12 boards.

For the Jennies Shelby Winkelmann also finished with a double-double scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Revonnia Howard had 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds while Justin Prairie Chief had four assists.

FHSU will now play in the MIAA Championship game at 3:30 p.m. on March 8 from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.

Notes: This is Fort Hays State's first trip to the championship game since joining the league
