Kansas City, Mo. -- Second seed Emporia State shot .564 from the field as they defeated seventh seed Missouri Western 77-60 in the quarterfinal round of the MIAA Tournament.

For the Lady Hornets Merissa Quick led the way scoring 17 points and pulling down seven rebounds while Kelly Moten added 15 points and seen boards. Kathryn Flott had 12 points and three assists while Kelsey Barnwell also added 12 points.

For the Griffons LaQuinta Jefferson led the way scoring a team best 14 points on the night. Sarafina Handy finished with 12 points while Milikere Koyamainavure dished out a game four assists.

The Lady Hornets will face either #3 Pittsburg State or #6 Central Oklahoma at 8:15 p.m. on March 7 from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
