Kansas City, Mo. -- Top seeded Fort Hays State shot .537 from the field as they defeated ninth seed Northeastern State 79-53 in the quarterfinals of the MIAA Women's Basketball Tournament.
For the Tigers Kate Lehman led the way scoring 24 points and pulling down seven rebounds. Chelsea Mason added 23 points going five of eight from behind the three-point line. Jill Faxon also added 15 points while Nikola Kacperska added a game high seven assists.
For the RiverHawks Chelsey Beathard led the way with 12 points and Kate Bellamy pulled down a team best five rebounds. Bria Pierce finished with 11 points and Fontana Tate dished out a team best four assists.
The Tigers will face either #4 Missouri Southern or #5 Central Missouri at 6 p.m. on March 7 in the semifinal round from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
