NSU ADVANCES IN SHOOTOUT AT MIAA WOMEN'S SOCCER TOURNAMENT

Wins 4-3 in penalty kicks

Warrensburg, Mo. – Northeastern State and Central Oklahoma played to a 1-1 tie with NSU advancing 4-3 on penalty kicks to advance to the MIAA Tournament Championship.
 
Northeastern State jumped on top in the 11th minute as Kelsey McIntyre scored off a McKenzie Musella and Anastasia Robinson assist. UCO would tie the game in the 22nd minute as Kentia Kokis scored on a Katie Killion pass.
 
In the shootout UCO’s Kinzie Sublett made the first shot, while NSU’s Jennifer Cudjoe answered with a make of her own. In the second round Victoria Noblett made her attempt for UCO while Julia Mathis missed for NSU. In the third round UCO’s Caitlin Moore and NSU’s McKenzie Musella each made their attempts. Courtney Cox would miss for UCO while McKenna Jetton made for NSU to tie things up at 3-3.

To open the fifth round Camrie Hurst missed her attempt while Emily Burch hit her shot to push her team through to the championship. In goal for the RiverHawks Jordan Woodruff stopped six shots to earn her second win of the tournament.
 
The RiverHawks will face off with top seeded Central Missouri at 1 p.m. on Nov. 8 in the MIAA Championship.
