Edmond, Okla. – Second seeded Central Missouri hit .288 as a team as they held off stop seeded Central Oklahoma 3-1 to claim the
MIAA Volleyball Tournament title. UCM took advantage of 27 errors (18 hitting, 6 serving, three blocking) by the
Bronchos in the 22-25, 25-20, 27-25 and 25-18 victory.
For the Jennies Carly
Sojka led the way with a double-double as she finished with 25 kills and 14 digs.
Cheyanne Lyons hit .350 with 15 kills and Kasey
Hohlen hit .450 with 11 kills.
Kourtney Thompson was the team’s primary passer finishing with 59 assists making it a double-double with 10 digs on the afternoon.
Annie Reilly had a team best 35 digs while Shelby
Winkelman added 18 digs and Kylie
Hohlen finished with 12 digs.
For the
Bronchos Barbara Jackson had a match high 33 kills making it a double-double with 14 digs while hitting .413 and Whitney Gifford added 34 digs. Katy Davis had a double-double finishing with 52 assists to go along with 16 digs on the afternoon.
UCM will receive the MIAA’s automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Volleyball Tournament while all other teams will await their fate on the NCAA selection show at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 23 on
ncaa.com.
