Kansas City, Mo. – MIAA Champion Northwest Missouri placed 11 on the All-MIAA first team as the awards were released today.
The first team offense is led by MIAA Offensive Player of the Year Emporia State Quarterback Brent Wilson. Wilson led the league with 3,420 passing yards with 34 touchdowns on the year. He is joined on the first team by fellow quarterback Brady Bolles of Northwest Missouri.
At running back are Central Oklahoma’s Clay McKenzie and Fort Hays State’s Shaquille Cooper. They are joined at the skill positions by Central Missouri’s Jaylen Zachery and Emporia State Mitchell Foote at wide receiver and Northwest Missouri’s Jordan Grove at tight end/fullback.
Along the offensive line are UCM’s Brian Berzanski, UCO’s Landon Chappell, FHSU’s Matt Erbert, MWSU’s Travis Anderson and NWMSU’s Shane Smith.
The first team kicker is also MIAA Special Teams Athlete of the Year Simon Mathiesen who was 17 of 21 on field goals including a season long of 46 yards. He is joined by kick/punt return and MIAA Freshman of the Year Shawn Bane Jr. who averaged 23.1 yards per kick return and 11.7 yards per punt return.
The first team defense feature MIAA Co-Defensive Players of the Year Defensive Lineman Collin Bevins of Northwest Missouri and Linebacker Connor Harris of Lindenwood. Harris led the MIAA with 199 tackles including 5.5 sacks on the year while Bevins finished with 17.0 tackles for a loss.
Joining Bevins on the defensive line are UCM’s Jason Venckus, UCO’s Kenny Allen and his teammate Brandon Yost. Joining Harris at linebacker are MWSU’s Yomi Alli and NWMSU’s Brock Sherman and Jacob Vollstedt.
In the defensive secondary is Fort Hays State’s Daniel Lindsey, Missouri Western’s Michael Jordan, and Northwest Missouri’s Bryce Enyard and Kevin Berg. The first team All-MIAA punter is Matt Klingler of LIndenwood.
Northwest Missouri’s Adam Dorrel has been named the MIAA Coach of the Year after leading his team to an undefeated season and an MIAA title.
