Kansas City, Mo. – The first round of the MIAA volleyball tournament is on the docket for Tuesday, Nov. 17 with all games scheduled for a 7 p.m. first serve.
#8 Emporia State at #1 Central Oklahoma
Top seeded Central Oklahoma will open the tournament at home against eighth seeded Emporia State.
For the Bronchos Barbara Jackson is leading the way averaging 3.75 kills per set while Katy Davis averages 11.98 assists per set. On the return Whitney Gifford is averaging 6.05 digs and Jordan Spence 0.95 blocks per set.
For the Hornets Josie Williams is averaging 2.52 kills per set and Sydney Hartman 4.90 assists per set. On the return Kelly Holden is averaging 4.95 digs and Shayla Cotman 1.10 blocks per set.
#7 Northwest Missouri at #2 Central Missouri
Second seeded Central Missouri will take on seventh seeded Northwest Missouri in a rematch of their final regular season match.
For the Jennies Carly Sojka leads the way averaging 4.17 kills while Kourtney Thompson averages 10.53 assists per set. On the return Annie Reilly is averaging 5.61 digs and Kasey Hohlen 0.72 blocks per set.
For the Bearcats Maddy Bruder is averaging 3.48 kills and Sarah Dannettell 10.61 assists per set. On the return Aarika Wittenburg is averaging 4.12 digs and Alexis Williams 0.98 blocks per set.
#6 Fort Hays State at #3 Nebraska-Kearney
Third seeded Nebraska-Kearney will open the tournament against rival and sixth seed Fort Hays State.
For the Lopers Kaitlyn Thomas is leading the way averaging 3.48 kills per set and Erin Seele 7.22 assists per set. On the return Ellie McDonnell leads the way with 4.24 digs and Tara Ziegelbein with 0.84 blocks per set.
For the Tigers Crystal Whitten leads the way with 3.42 kills and Hannah Wagy with 10.61 assists per set. On defense Whitten leads the way with 3.55 digs and Megan Anderson 0.85 blocks per set.
#5 Missouri Western at #4 Washburn
Fourth seeded Washburn will open the MIAA Tournament at home against fifth seeded Missouri Western.
The Ichabods are led by Leanna Willer who is averaging 4.11 kills and Liz Powell with 9.06 assists per set. On defense Alyssa Carney is averaging 5.43 digs and Sarah Vicory 1.12 blocks per set.
The Griffons are led by Shellby Taylor who is averaging 2.16 kills and Jordan Chohon with 10.39 assists per set. On defense Kayla Ruff is averaging 4.81 digs and Rachel Friedrichs 0.92 blocks per set.
