Springfield, Mo. – Emporia State used a five run fifth inning to stave off elimination with a 10-3 victory over Northeastern State. The Hornets racked up 14 hits including two that left the park.
At the plate for ESU Justin Harris was two for six with a double and a home run. Dean Long was one for two with a home run and scored three runs. Wade Hanna also added two runs batted in.
For the RiverHawks Bryce Davenport, Andrew Walker, Dante Broome each drove in runs.
On the mound for ESU Dakota McKaskle threw a complete game allowing just eight hits and striking out seven.
ESU will await the loser of today’s game between Missouri Western and Central Oklahoma later tonight.
