Springfield, Mo. – Emporia State scored 10 runs in the fifth through seventh inning to survive and advance to the MIAA Championship game with a 12-1 victory over Central Oklahoma. The Hornets only had eight hits, but took advantage of five UCO errors.
At the plate Justin Harris was three for five with three runs driven in and two runs scored. Dean Long went one for four and scored twice as did Price Jacobs and Aaron Gile. Jordan Hodges added two runs driven in as well as all but one player in the ESU line-up scored at least one run. For the Bronchos Jake O’Brien scored the lone run driven in by Dilon Argo.
On the mound ESU got their second complete game of the day with Jarrod Miller going all seven innings and striking out eight and allowing just five hits.
Emporia State will face Missouri Western in the MIAA Championship game scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10 from Hammons Field in Springfield, Mo.
