Overland Park, Kan. – Lindenwood and Emporia State stayed alive and will now face off for the chance to keep going in the MIAA Softball Tournament.
#1 Emporia State 7, #2 Central Oklahoma 2
Top seeded Emporia State got four runs in the second and added three runs in the seventh as they stayed alive in the MIAA Softball tourney. ESU racked up 11 hits and turned three double plays in the field.
For the Hornets Trisha Vogel was three for four with two runs scored adding a two run home run in the seventh. Stephanie Goodwin drove in two runs in the third inning while Kaitlyn Caston added two runs scored. For the Bronchos Brooke Zukerman homered and Kaylee Brunson tripled and scored. In the circle Caston pitched seven strong allowing just one earned run and scattering seven hits.
#7 Lindenwood 5, #4 Fort Hays State 4
Seventh seeded Lindenwood scored five runs in the fifth inning and held on for the upset victory over fourth seeded Fort Hays State. Lindenwood overcame four errors in the field stay alive in the MIAA Softball Touranment.
Deidre Merli had the big hit the fifth for the Lions driving in two runs. Bianca Adame scored two runs for FHSU. In the circle Morgan Colvis came on to get the relief victory pitching the final five innings of the game.
