Kansas City, Mo. – Three of the three game series’ in the MIAA Tournament got underway tonight.
#3 Central Oklahoma 5, #6 Nebraska-Kearney 4
#3 Central Oklahoma put up three runs in the fourth and got the go ahead in the sixth as the won the first game of a best of three series. UCO finished with 10 hits on the night and took advantage of two UNK errors.
For the Bronchos Dylan Tinkler homered driving in two while also scoring two runs. Wacey Anderson went two for four and scored a run while Dilon Argo also added a run batted in. For the Lopers Max Ayoub was two for three for two runs batted in and Jayke Brock added two hits and two runs batted in as well. On the mound Jared Sterling earned the win going 6.1 innings and strking out three while Landon Hallam got the save.
#2 Emporia State 10, #7 Washburn 1
Emporia State used a six run eighth inning to charge to a win in the opener of a best of three series with Washburn. ESU racked up 13 hits and stole four bases to go up 1-0 in the series.
For the Hornets Aaron Gile was two for three with a home run and two runs driven in. Price Jacobs had two hits and drove in two runs as eight different Hornets drove in a run. Riley Krane scored the lone Ichabods run which was driven in by Parker Gibson. Shawn Talkington pitched 7.2 innings scattering six hits and striking out four.
#5 Southwest Baptist 6, #4 Missouri Western 4
Southwest Baptist used a three-run seventh inning to earn a victory in the first game of a best of three series at Missouri Western. SBU had nine hits while holding MWSU to just eight hits on the night.
For the Bearcats Spencer Blacksher was two for four with three runs scored as well as hitting a home run. Bo Helsel was three for four with three runs driven in. For the Griffons Cody Childs was two for three with a run driven in. On the mound Cory Borsh pitched a complete game allowing just two earned runs to pick up the win.
