Springfield, Mo. – Northwest Missouri won two of three doubles to propel themselves to a 5-1 win over Southwest Baptist at the 2014 MIAA Men’s Tennis Championship.
It all got started with an SBU win as Daniel Cardona and Chris Blodig earned an 8-5 victory at the #2 spot. Northwest would answer as Romain Boissinot and Julien Couronne pulled out an 8-5 win at #3 doubles. At #1 it was a back and fourth match with Lluis Altimires and Sergio De Vilchez defeated SBU’s Kristof Kinal and Omar El Kheshen 9-8 (7-3).
In singles it was Alvaro Riveros who finished first earning a 6-3, 6-2 victory at #3 singles. Lluis Altimires then earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at the #4 slot. Julianne Couronne would then seal the victory with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at the #5 spot.
Nebraska-Kearney earned a forfeit victory over Washburn to claim third place at the tournament.
