Lawrence, Kan. – Central Oklahoma’s women won the MIAA Title, while the Central Missouri men wrapped up the MIAA Championship as well. Cy Moritz of Central Missouri shot four-under par to win on the men’s side, Baylee Price of Northeastern State was 17-over par to win the championship on the women’s side.
On the men’s side UCM finished three strokes above par to claim the MIAA title, also winning the overall title through the four designated events. Northeastern State was second finishing 199over par as Central Oklahoma and Lincoln tied for third place. Lindenwood and Washburn rounded out the top five by tieing for the fifth spot.
Individually Travis Mays finished tied for second overall, but was the MIAA Golfer of the year for his accumulated points over four events. Clayton Moles of Southwest Baptist also finished tied for second coming in one stroke ahead of Robby Hughey who finished in fourth. Brad Hager of Northeastern State rounded out the top five shooting the low round of the day 67, to shave five points off his score. Tim Poe of Central Missouri was named the MIAA Coach of the Year.
On the All-MIAA team Ryan Dyck of Lindnewood finished with 26.5 accumulated points to finish as the MIAA Freshman of the Year.
On the women’s side Northeastern State finished in second place overall. Northwest Missouri was third as a team and Lindenwood finished fourth overall. Central Missouri rounded out the top five finishing in that fifth spot.
Individually Price had the low round for the second straight day as she finishing three strokes ahead of teammate Sofia Castiello who was 20-over par. Taylor Neidy of Central Oklahoma who entered the day in first place finished in third place. June Tigert also of UCO and her teammate Aly Seng rounded out the top five. All-five earn All-Tournament honors with the All-MIAA team to be released later this week.
