Big match-ups as four teams enter the tournament ranked nationally

Kansas City, Mo. --
The MIAA Wrestling Championships will take place on Feb. 16 from the campus of Fort Hays State.

What to watch for: At 133 pounds 2013 NCAA National Champion Daniel DeShazer is ranked #1 in the nation while Casy Rowell of Central Oklahoma is ranked #7 in the country. In the 149 pound weight class Frank Cagnina of Central Missouri is #1 in the nation, Jordan Basks is ranked #3 and Lindenwood's Terrell Wilbourn is ranked #7 nationally.
At 157 pounds Cory Dauphin i the #1 ranked wrestler in the country and will face a challenge from Chase White of Nebraska-Kearney who is ranked #5 in the nation. In the 165 pound weight class Chris Watson of Central Oklahoma is #1 and Brock Smith of Nebraska-Kearney enters the weekend #6 in the nation. In the 197 pound class Romero Cotton of Nebraska-Kearney sets a top the national poll while Fort Hays State's Tanner Kriss enters the weekend at #7 nationally.

Team Capsules
#5 Central Oklahoma
Central Oklahoma went 5-1 in league play after winning the dual championship in 2013. Central Oklahoma is currently ranked #5 nationally and has two wrestlers that are ranked #1 in their respective weight class. Fell by just five points in their only league loss to dual champion Nebraska-Kearney as they went 12-4 overall in duals.
Wrestlers to watch: Cory Dauphin - At 157 pounds is ranked #1 in the nation at 24-0 with seven falls this season.
Chris Watson - At 165 pounds is ranked #1 in the nation with a 27-1 record and five falls.
Jordan Basks - At 149 pounds is ranked #3 in the nation at 31-2 with 15 falls.
Casy Rowell - At 133 pounds is ranked #7 at 24-3 with three falls on the year.
           
#2 Nebraska-Kearney
Nebraska-Kearney used a perfect 6-0 record in MIAA duals to claim the MIAA dual championship. They are ranked #2 in the nation in the latest poll and have two wrestlers who are ranked atop their respective weight classes and five that are ranked overall. They went 4-0 against teams currently ranked in the nations top 25.
Wrestlers to watch: Daniel DeShazer - At 133 pounds is ranked #1 in the nation with an 8-0 record.
Romero Cotton - At 197 pounds is ranked #1 in the nation with a 13-3 record overall, 11-0 against DII opponents.
Patrick Martinez - At 174 pounds is ranked #4 in the nation with a 13-1 overall record.
Chase White - At 157 pounds is ranked #5 in the nation with a 14-3 overall record.
Brock Smith - At 165 pounds is ranked #6 in the nation with a 15-5 record overall.

#12 Fort Hays State
Fort Hays State went 9-5-1 overall and 3-3 in league duals and enter the weekend ranked #12 in the country. The have two wrestlers ranked in the top eight in their weight class and went 3-4 against teams in the top 25 with seven matches overall.
Wrestlers to watch: C.J. Napier - At 141 pounds is ranked #4 in the country with a 22-4 record overall.
Tanner Kriss - At 197 pounds ranked #7 in the country with an 8-3 record this season.
Lawson Ludwin - At 125 pounds went 26-12 on the season.
Jon Inman - At 184 pounds an MIAA Wrestler of the Week who went 20-5 overall.
Jack Page - At 285 pounds (Heavyweight) went 21-9 this season.

Central Missouri
Central Missouri went 2-4 in dual matches in the league this season going 6-6 overall on the year. Have on wrestler who is currently ranked a top his weight class.
Wrestlers to watch: Frank Cagnina - At 149 pounds two time MIAA Athlete of the Week ranked #1 in nation with 29-2 record
Eric Mateo - At 141 pounds is 21-8 with ten falls on the season
Ty Loethen - At 165 pounds was 14-5 with four falls 
Todd Brier - At 197 pounds went 20-13 with ten falls

Truman
Truman went 6-9 overall and 1-5 in league duals this season.
Wrestlers to watch: Ryan Maus - At 149 pounds he is 16-4 with five victories by fall.
Colton Schmitz - At 157 pounds he is 22-7 with 11 victories via fall.
Ryan Ward - At 184 pounds he is 16-9 on the season.
Helmut Rentschler - At 197 pounds he is 15-12 with five victories by fall

#7 Lindenwood
Went 4-2 in league duals this season and finished with a 6-2 overall record and are ranked #7 in the nation in the most recent poll.
Wrestlers to watch:  John McArdle - At 184 pounds is ranked #3 in the nation and was 13-3 with six falls and was named an MIAA Wrestler of the Week.
Steven Butler - At 285 pounds a two time MIAA Wrestler of the Week ranked #7 in the nation 10-1 with four falls.
Matthew Katusin - At 133 pounds was 15-10 with 12 falls.
Terrell Wilbourn - At 149 pounds is ranked #7 in the nation despite begin just 2-2 on the season.
