UCO EARNS SHUTOUT TO ADVANCE IN MIAA WOMEN'S SOCCER TOURNAMENT

Defeat Lindenwood 5-0 to earn slot in semi-finals

Edmond, Okla. – Fourth seeded Central Oklahoma earned the shutout in a 5-0 victory over fifth seed Lindenwood to advance in the MIAA Women’s Soccer Tournament.
 
Paige Matacchiera got the scoring started in the 15th minute as put a header past the keeper getting an assist from Kenzie Sublett. Lexi Carroll would make it a 2-0 advantage for the Bronchos scoring in the 23rd minute off a pass from Miranda Thorne. Matacchiera would then get her second of the first period coming in the 39th minute as they got one over the keeper from 35 yards away.

In the second period UCO’s Emily Hahn opened the scoring with a header off of a Matacchiera orner kick. Finally in the 87th minute Courtney Essary scored her first goal of the season from 28 yards out.
 
In goal Brandi Bartley made a save on the lone Lindenwood shot on goal as she combined with Elle Stover for the shutout.
 
Central Oklahoma will now await the winner of tonight’s Central Missouri/Northeastern State match-up. The two teams will face off on Nov. 7 at 4 p.m. from the College Boulevard Activities Complex in Olathe, Kan. in semi-final action.
