Kansas City, Mo. – It took overtime, but Pittsburg State fell 24-21 to Minnesota State-Mankato in the second round of the NCAA Division II Football Championship. MSU got a field goal in their first possession of the OT, and then intercepted a pass on the first play of the PSU possession.
For the Gorillas Anthony Abenoja was 15 of 28 for 248 yards and two touchdowns. Gavin Lutman caught a team high seven passes for 133 yards ending up on the others end of both touchdown passes. On the defensive side of the ball Keeston Terry had 15 tackles and picked off a pass while De’Vante Bausby made 11 stops and also picked off a pass.
The Gorillas end their season with an 11-2 overall record, both MIAA bowl teams will be in action next weekend. Central Oklahoma will take on Sioux Falls in the Mineral Water Bowl and Central Missouri will face off with Southeastern Oklahoma State in the Texarkana Bowl.
